ArtsWeek Volusia 2019 – The Volusia County Cultural Alliance invites you to celebrate arts and culture in our community during “ArtsWeek Volusia” February 22 to March 3, 2019. Showcasing the many arts and cultural institutions in Volusia County, ArtsWeek Volusia includes art openings, music events, theater, film and more! Rounding out ArtsWeek Volusia will be an “Arts EXPO” featuring VCCA member organizations and individual artists held on Saturday, March 2, from 9:30am -4 PM at the Gemini Springs State Park in conjunction with the Gateway Center for the Arts Youth Celebration of the Arts. The public is invited to come discover all the arts Volusia County have to offer!

Free. Tickets to the dinner, which will be held at the Sanborn Events Center in DeLand, are $50 for VCCA members, $60 for non-members, and $550 for a table of eight, and can be purchased online at www.volusiaculture.org / events/ annual dinner, or by calling 386-756-6326.
“The Volusia County Cultural Alliance is both honored and excited to present the 4th annual ArtsWeek Volusia,” said VCCA President Stephanie Mason-Teague. “This is a unique opportunity to sample some of the varied and rich cultural activities found in our area. VCCA invites all residents to experience and enjoy these events, and to support the cultural organizations and individuals that contribute to the spirit of the Volusia County community. Local artists and cultural organizations are also invited to participate in our Arts Advocacy workshop and Arts EXPO.”
Kicking off scheduled VCCA activities for the week will be an Arts Advocacy Round Table Workshop – Monday February 25, 10am, Cici and Hyatt Brown Museum of Art, Daytona Beach.
Facilitators: Malinda Horton, Executive Director Florida Association of Museums, and Nancy Maddox, Cultural Council of Volusia County.
In this time of decreasing grant funding, learn the Who, what, when and Why you need to advocate for the arts. Each participant will leave with an action plan, and tools to advocate effectively. FREE to VCCA members. Includes box lunch.
VCCA’s Annual Dinner on Wednesday, February 27 features a “State of The Arts” address as well as awards to individuals whose leadership and long-standing support of the County’s cultural institutions have made a lasting impact on the area’s arts and culture. The annual Tippen Davidson Award for the Arts, named for the County’s long-time arts patron, will be awarded to Judy Thompson. Retired from a long career in both law and business, Thompson is an active community volunteer. Her current activities include: Past President and Board Member, Museum of Art – DeLand; Secretary, Past President and Board Member, DeLand Fall Festival of the Arts; and recipient of the Volusia County League of Cities 2012 Citizen of the Year for Cultural Enhancement. The Brady-Coolidge Award for excellence in volunteerism, given in honor of long-time local nonprofit executives Ann Brady and Jennifer McInnes Coolidge, will be awarded to John Wilton. Dr. Wilton is an artist and arts educator who serves on the Cultural Council Advisory Board of Volusia County; Secretary of the Board and Chair of the Public Art Committee at the Museum of Art – DeLand, where he was awarded the 2018 Volunteer of the Year; the Artistic Standards Committee for the DeLand Fall Festival of the Arts and exhibition committees for the Ormond Art Museum and the Hub on Canal.
