Hook Kids on Fishing is Saturday, November 2
Around 100 children from Central Florida will take part in the Hook Kids on Fishing! event Saturday, November 2, from 9 a.m. to noon. This free family event — sponsored by the City of Casselberry and Friends of the Park — will feature a fishing clinic by Anglers for Conservation Orlando Chapter to happen at Secret Lake Park teaching kids the basics of fishing and conservation. Each child will take home their own fishing pole and tackle box. The event is full, but a waiting list has begun. Trees of Life Band headline November Art & Music in the Park on November 8
The Trees of Life Band are set to perform a variety of music and entertainment at the monthly Art & Music in the Park and Food Truck Bazaar in Casselberry. The event is Friday, November 8, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Lake Concord Park behind Casselberry City Hall. The Trees of Life Band are an Orlando-based band playing reggae/rock/jam tunes. Dedicated to love, music, positive energy, good times, and entertaining our fans. The “ToL Band” not only connects on stage, but has a strong relationship off stage that creates a positive energy as a group which others can feel and involve themselves in. Their musical style is a fusion of some of their major influences including Sublime, James Brown, Pepper, The Roots, and Sly and the Family Stone. With the holidays approaching, there will be more than 20 local businesses and artisans booths selling jewelry, photography, paintings, and an assortment of other unique gifts and services. Also, there will be more than 12 gourmet food trucks from The Food Truck Bazaar.
2-day Craft Beers and Blues
Festival is November 16-17
Mike Zito. Joe Louis Walker. Albert Castiglia. Nighthawks. Those are just some of the names at the seventh annual Craft Beers & Blues Festival in Casselberry in an expanded two-day event in November. The free event, sponsored by the City of Casselberry and Orange Blossom Blues Society, will be Saturday and Sunday, November 16 and November 17, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Lake Concord Park in Casselberry, behind City Hall. The stellar lineup on Saturday is Paul Stott Band, Odds Lane, Mike Zito and Joe Louis Walker. The Sunday lineup is David Julia, Albert Castiglia, Luther Johnson and the Nighthawks. The legendary blues performers will play some of their biggest hits and jam together various times over the two days. It will be a spectacle like no other seen in Central Florida. Fans are expected from all over the United States to fly in to hear this special event. Besides the 10-hours of music on two days, there will be a bevy of craft beers and a wide selection of food trucks for patrons. The public has an opportunity to be up close with some of their favorite performers to get autographs and have photos taken.
AARP is hosting driving course on November 20
AARP is hosting a 55 Alive Driving Course at the Casselberry Recreation Center on November 20 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Seniors over 55 years of age are eligible to attend. Those completing the course may be eligible for a discount on their car insurance. The cost for AARP members is $15 for the class (to receive the discount must provide AARP membership card). The cost for AARP non-members is $20 for the class. Anyone interested in taking the course must pre-register by calling (407) 262-7700, Ext. 1575.
Santa Run throughout Casselberry is December 2-5
The City of Casselberry, the Casselberry Police Department and the Seminole County Fire Department will work together to escort Santa and his elves throughout the city to toss out candy to all the good girls and boys during this year’s Santa Run the first week of December. The city has expanded the run to four days — December 2, 3, 4 and 5 – 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. to accommodate more neighborhoods. Annual tree lighting event in Casselberry is December 7
The City of Casselberry is hosting the annual tree lighting celebration on Saturday, December 7, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Lake Concord Park, behind City Hall. Metropolitan Area Youth Symphony & Walden Community School, South Seminole Academy, Casselberry Elementary and Winter Springs Elementary are performing before the Christmas tree lights are turned on behind City Hall at 95 Triplet Lake Drive. There will be cookies, beverages, children’s activities and Santa Claus in attendance. MAYS & Walden Community School perform at 5:20 p.m., South Seminole Academy at 5:45 p.m., Casselberry Elementary at 6:10 p.m. and Winter Springs Elementary at 6:35 p.m. Parking is available at adjacent businesses.
Holiday Art & Music in the Park and Food Truck Bazaar is December 13
The City of Casselberry will host a special Holiday Art & Music in the Park and The Food Truck Bazaar on Friday, December 13, at Lake Concord Park, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Guitarist Matthew Fowler will be coming off tour to perform some of his biggest hits and a variety of holiday songs. There will be Santa and Mrs. Claus there to take photos with children and pets. And there will be holiday artisan booths throughout the park and more than 12 food trucks from The Food Truck Bazaar.
Most events are at Lake Concord Park in Casselberry
- The Casselberry Food and Wine, sponsored by the Casselberry Chamber of Commerce, is Monday, November 4, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Lake Concord Park behind City Hall. This annual festival includes a culinary cuisine tasting, wine sampling, silent auction and live entertainment. Proceeds from the silent auction benefit the Casselberry Art House, Casselberry Elementary Food Pantry and the Casselberry Chamber Scholarship Fund. - The 17th annual New Hope for Kids Bike Ride is Saturday, December 14, at 6 p.m. at South Seminole Academy. The 5-mile charity event throughout Casselberry raises funds for New Hope for Kids, whose purpose is to bring hope, healing and happiness to children and families suffering from grief, loss or life-threatening illnesses.
