Defeat ALS Walk at Lake Eola
Defeat ALS Walk at Lake Eola – On Saturday, March 21st, thousands of people will gather at Lake Eola in Orlando to join the fight to find a cure for a deadly disease. ALS progressively paralyzes its victims, attacking nerve cells and pathways in the brain or spinal cord, takingaway their ability to walk, talk, eat and eventually breathe. ALS has no known cause or cure, but the Orlando community is rallying together to change that.
“The Walk is a wonderful way for people to have an opportunity to help and support loved ones affected by ALS,” said Debbie Kaufhold, visiting volunteer for the ALS Association Florida Chapter. “My family and I had participated in the Walks in Charlotte, North Carolina for the past two years that my husband Marty battled ALS. Since Marty’s battle ended last year, I relocated to Florida and began volunteering by visiting those afflicted. I met Tiekar Bennett, and we became fast friends. While I am able to help him with facing the challenges of ALS, he has helped me with dealing with my grief and living in a new state. We spend a couple of evenings together each week, and it was during those visits we decided to form Team Hope in Motion – A Unique Journey. This year, our shirts will read ‘Led by Warriors and Guided by Angels, We Walk for a World without ALS.’”

Saturday, March 21, 2020, Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. Walk starts at 11 am.
An annual walk to unlock ALS research and treatment; The Walk to Defeat ALS® is the #1 way to unite and fundraise for those living with ALS. Each year, fundraising through the Walk drives bold and urgent innovation as we march together toward a cure for ALS.
We walk to honor those who are fighting this disease as well as their caregivers. Money raised from the walk fuels our goals to provide assistance and advocacy for people with ALS and their families at every stage of the disease and allows for more advanced research toward a cure.
