Drone Zone program for teens
Drone Zone program for teens – The Orange County Library system has been chosen as a recipient of the Best Buy Community Grant in support of the upcoming Drone Zone program which will introduce tweens and teens to new technology through hands on learning.
Drone Zone camps will introduce tweens and teens to drone related technology, programming and careers. The three-day camp will teach teens to program their drones to fly through an obstacle course, hit targets, carry objects and create aerial films. Additionally, students will learn about FAA guidelines and certifications for drone pilots, as well as educational and career opportunities. The Drone Zone camps are made possible by a generous $4,800 grant through the Best Buy Community Grants program, allowing the purchase three Parrot Mambo Advance Drone Packs, which will supply 18 drones and accessories, enabling the Library to offer this camp at multiple locations during the 2019 Summer Reading Program. The Drone Zone kicks off with a three-day camp at the Orlando Public Library, 101 East Central Blvd., Tuesday, March 19 through Thursday, March 21 at 3 p.m. and on Saturdays, March 23 through April 5 at 10 a.m.
