PLEASE NOTE: We know that all parents, grandparents and caregivers are monitoring the Coronavirus outbreak. As our site is centered around community events and fun, we encourage all parents, grandparents and caregivers to monitor CDC (Centers for Disease Control), WHO (World Health Organization), and local and national news outlets for guidelines and recommendations for participating in community events. We also encourage all families to ensure they are washing hands before, during and after events they attend and refrain from touching surfaces and their faces to promote healthy attendance habits. Downtown Orlando Martin Luther King Jr. Parade

January 18 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free

The Southwest Orlando Jaycees cordially invites you to participate in the 36th Annual Downtown Orlando Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 10:00AM.  Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was an integral part of the Civil Rights Movement which laid the foundation for the equality of treatment and opportunity enjoyed in America and around the world today. The theme for the 2020 parade celebration is “King 2020, The Beloved Community: The Fierce Urgency of Now”.

In remembrance of Dr. King’s life and legacy we are soliciting a record number of participants for the Holiday Parade.  This year we expect an estimated 8,000 spectators at the parade.  We are hopeful that the 2020 parade and celebration will remind our attendees “the most precious gifts in life––like children and love and time––must never be taken for granted.”

Participating in the event is not only fun but it also provides you with an excellent way to market your organization or business while celebrating a remarkable legacy of courage and unity in our community. We are asking all participants to embrace this year’s theme in their submissions. Because we all enjoy an eventful parade we are encouraging decorative floats and discouraging a traditional motorcade for this year’s parade.
