Far Reach Ranch Announces U-pick Blueberry Season – Plump, juicy, and delightfully sweet, blueberries are a versatile superfruit, whether you snack on a handful or bake them in a buckle. And locals know, there’s no better place for this seasonal treat than Far Reach Ranch. Tucked away on the shores of Lake Dora, this idyllic farm is family-owned and operated. In addition to blueberries, Far Reach Ranch offers hand-crafted jams, honey, freshly baked goods, and ready-to-purchase berries. But getting out into the fields and gathering the berries is all part of the experience, insists Brennan Hamill, Director of Operations and Business Development. And he would know – the farm has been in his family for four generations.

What:
“It’s a delicious adventure that really connects you to the land,” reveals Hamill. “So many of us are removed from our actual food sources these days. It’s nice to be able to get out there and see where your fruit comes from. This year we’re proud to offer three different varieties of blueberries: Meadowlark, Arcadia, and Optimus. Meadowlark is your big, beautiful snacking berry, Arcadia is great for baking, and Optimus is a firm, medium-sized fruit that is new to the ranch this year.”
UPICK blueberry season begins in March and ends in May. Far Reach Ranch will be open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 9am to 5pm and Sundays from 10am to 4pm with a playground, games, and bounce house for the kids. Special events as follows:
- Sunset Picks ~ Thursdays from 5pm to 8pm and Saturdays from 5pm to 9pm. Enjoy UPICK during Florida’s beautiful Golden Hour.
- Hayride Happy Hour ~ Thursdays from 5pm to 8pm featuring free hayrides, food and drink offerings, singer-songwriter showcase, fresh farm produce for sale, bounce house, playground, and more.
- Saturday, March 25th at 6pm (doors open at 5pm), The Packing House Presents Trout Fishing in America. Grab a drink and a bite at Far Reach Ranch’s events space, The Packing House, while enjoying local folk-rock band comprised of Keith Grimwood and Ezra Idlet.
“It’s going to be a great UPICK season,” says Hamill. “I would urge everyone to check our website and social media channels for a more specific opening date. It all depends on when the berries ripen and you can’t rush a good thing. Only Mother Nature knows when they’ll be ready – we just have to wait for her to clue us in!”
Where and When:
Far Reach Ranch, located at 1255 S. Dora Blvd., Tavares, Florida, was established in 1947 as a cattle ranch and orange grove and eventually became a blueberry farm in 1994 when the first few acres were planted. The farm has UPICK, events, live music, and more throughout the year. Far Reach Ranch also operates an events space, The Packing House, which hosts weddings, gatherings, and special events.
