Homeschool Workshop for Parents and November Events from Orange County Library – On November 12 the library hosts Homeschool – How to Get Started, a workshop for those who are interested in home education. Hear from professionals and longtime home educators as they share valuable insight such as curriculum choices and structuring a day of learning. A Q&A will follow this session.  Title –

The Sunshine State Jr. Book Club meets on November 18 for a read aloud of this month’s featured book, Piranhas Don’t Eat Bananas. Then on November 23 bring the family together for Zoom Family Game Night where library staff will lead exciting games the whole family will enjoy.

Virtual Event: Yarn Doodles  

Mondays, November 2, 4 p.m.  

Design a unique work of art using yarn as your medium. Recommended for upper elementary.

Virtual Event: Shakespeare LIVE!  

Mondays, November 2 & 9, 6:30 p.m.  

Experience the witty fun of William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing. Read and perform excerpts from Shakespeare’s masterpiece. Recommended for teens and adults.

Virtual Event: Eatonville Children’s Book Club  

Wednesday, November 4, 3 p.m.  

Make new friends, establish regular reading routines, and have fun learning through reading, activities and games!

Virtual Event: Celebrate Veteran’s Day with a Veteran 

Saturday, November 7, 2 p.m.  

Spend time with a local veteran and learn about their time serving our country. Join in bootcamp-style exercises and learn how to send cards of thanks to our local heroes.

Virtual Event: Native American Music  

Tuesday, November 10, 4 p.m.  

Celebrate Native American Heritage Month with music by the Redhawk Native American Arts Council.

Families can be big or small and can change over time. Some live together and others live apart. In every family there are people who love each other. Who’s in your family?

Virtual Event: Homeschool – How to Get Started  

Thursday, November 12, 11 a.m.  

No matter the age of your child, or how long you have been interested in home education, this event will provide you with valuable information to help guide your first steps. Receive practical advice from a local professional and longtime home educator on a variety of topics, such as how to structure a day of at-home learning, the difference between registering with the county vs. registering with an umbrella school, and what to consider when making curriculum choices. This event will conclude with a Q&A session. Recommended for adults.

Virtual Event: Cuisine Corner Junior – Cornucopia Cones  

Friday, November 13, 4 p.m.  

Celebrate fall by creating your own delicious cornucopia out of an ice cream cone and fill it with sweet and salty treats. Recommended for lower and upper elementary and tweens.

Virtual Event: Lincoln and Thanksgiving  

Friday, November 13, 6:30 p.m.  

Mr. Lincoln shares the story of how our national, annual observance of the Thanksgiving holiday came to be established during his Presidency. Recommended for adults and children ages 6 and up.

Virtual Event: Bullying/Cyberbullying  

Tuesday, November 17, 6:30 p.m.  

Learn the definition, characteristics and types of bullying. Identify the impacts of bullying and learn how to prevent it. Receive information and resources for victims of bullying.

Virtual Event: Sunshine State Jr. Book Club  

Wednesday, November 18, 4 p.m.  

Hear us read aloud one of the Sunshine State Jr. (K–2) books, and then enjoy an activity. This month we’re reading Piranhas Don’t Eat Bananas.

Virtual Event: NAMI Ending the Silence for Families  

Wednesday, November 18, 6:30 p.m.  

Learn about warning signs, facts and statistics, and how to talk with your children about mental health.

Virtual Event: Gobble, Gobble, Wibble, Wobble  

Thursday, November 19, 3 p.m.  

Let the festivities begin! Join us as we gobble up stories, and have fun with turkey activities and crafts.

Virtual Event: Zoom Family Game Night  

Monday, November 23, 5 p.m.  

Gather the family for some online fun! We’ll be playing games that the whole family is sure to enjoy.
