June 2021 Orange County Library Events – Go wild at the library this June as our annual Summer Reading Program, Tales and Tails, gets underway! Join us every Tuesday from June 1 to July 6 for the Summer Livestream Series where special guest will perform live. Performers include Koo Koo Kangaroo, Puppy Pals Comedic Stunt Dog, Kuumba Kids, JiggleMan!, and more. Watch through YouTube (youtube.com/ocls) and Facebook (facebook.com/oclslib) from the comfort of your home with your family and friends.

Father’s Day is June 20. Create a personalized craft for your father, grandfather or caregiver while enjoying a story on June 17 during Father’s Day Craft.   

June is also Pride Month. Celebrate with us on June 26 during Pride at Home: A Pride Month Celebration where you and your family will enjoy inclusive stories, experiments and a quick Pride history lesson. See below to register today.  

The Summer Reading Program runs from May 30 – August 1 with lots of fun and educational virtual programing for everyone to enjoy. Visit ocls.info/srp to register today.

Summer Livestream Series  

Tuesdays, June 1–29, 2 p.m.  

Your family can enjoy wild and fun entertainment from the comfort of home this summer with these livestreams featuring a special guest performer on the OCLS YouTube and Facebook pages.  


Everything is Illuminated  

Wednesday, June 2, 4 p.m.  

Explore the world of art and storytelling as we examine the use of stained glass and illuminated manuscripts throughout the ages and enjoy a craft. Recommended for teens. 


Baby Scientist  

Friday, June 4, 10:30 a.m.  

A marine biologist, botanist, archeologist, what will your baby be today? Introduce the fields of science with books, songs and hands-on exploration. Recommended for toddlers.  


Kindness Rocks!   

Friday, June 4, 4 p.m.  

No two rocks are alike and that makes them a perfect canvas for unique art. Tap into inspiration and rock your design skills. Recommended for ages 13-18. 


Little Chef: Arts on Parade  

Friday, June 11, 11 a.m.  

The ants go marching one by one, hurrah! Join in on ant stories and songs and create a tasty ant-themed snack.  


Tall Tales to Tell  

Monday, June 14, 3 p.m.  

We’ve got a whopper of a tale for you! Learn how to use the characteristics of a tall tale to create one of your own and make the unbelievable believable.  



Tuesday, June 15, 10 a.m.  

Wiggle, squiggle, dance and clap with stories and songs that invite play and motor movement.  


Aquatic WILD: Mermaids and Manatees 

Tuesday, June 15, 4 p.m.  

Journey through your imagination to discern wildlife fact from fiction. Discover how imaginary creatures may be inspired by actual animals.  


Love is Love 

Wednesday, June 16, 4 p.m.  

Celebrate the LGBTQ+ community with trivia, pop culture references and a craft! Recommended for ages 13-18. 


Father’s Day Craft  

Thursday, June 17, 11 a.m.  

Enjoy a story, and create a personalized craft for your father, grandfather or the special caregiver in your life. Recommended for ages 5–10.  


Celebrate Juneteenth!   

Friday, June 18, 4 p.m.  

Gather your family to celebrate the freedom of African-Americans from slavery in the U.S.! We will celebrate with songs, games, and traditional foods! Recommended for families with children ages 6-8. https://attend.ocls.info/event/4897732  

Pride at Home: A Pride Month Celebration   

Saturday, June 26, 4 p.m.  

Celebrate all things Pride with inclusive stories, rainbow experiments, and a quick dive into Pride history! Recommended ages 9-12. 



Tuesday, June 29, 10 a.m.  

Old MacDonald wants to show off his farm. Learn all about farm animals and the sounds they make through stories, songs and crafts.  


Sloth Conservation  

Wednesday, June 30, 6:30 p.m.  

Monique Pool, Founder and Director of Green Heritage Fund Suriname, Member, IUCN/SSC Anteater, Sloth and Armadillo Specialist Group, and CNN Hero, will share her journey with sloths. https://attend.ocls.info/event/5032702
