OCLS Celebrates Women’s History Month and More in March

OCLS Celebrates Women’s History Month and More in March – March is Women’s History Month, and Orange County Library System invites the community to join us in learning about influential women in history who broke barriers and helped advance science, technology, engineering, art and math. Explore the achievements of great women of the past and present, from Frida Kahlo to Ruth Bader Ginsberg, with women-centered events for all ages going on at all branches throughout the month. OCLS Celebrates Women’s History Month and More in March

What:

On Saturday, March 25, at 2 p.m., Women in the Arts, Inc. will present the award honorees for the 12th annual “Celebrating the Genius of Women” art competition at Orlando Public Library, in honor of Women’s History Month. Join us in the main lobby to meet the artists and participate in an interactive gallery walk, followed by an awards ceremony. Find out which pieces will win the Patron’s Choice Award and Women in the Arts awards. The exhibition will run through April 2023. For more information, visit ocls.info/womeninthearts.

There will be plenty of shenanigans during library events for Saint Patrick’s Day, as well as some lesser-known holidays in March. Learn how to create custom Super Mario levels and more for Mario Day (3/10, or MAR-10), by visiting ocls.info/school-break. Celebrate Pi Day (3/14, or 3.14) with crafty projects using the mathematical pi to sew a custom circle skirt, or learn to embroider a pie-shaped felt pin.

Sewing: Vintage Circle Skirt

Celebrate Pi Day with a handmade circle skirt. Learn to make a vintage circle skirt with a lapped zipper and a waist band. Students are required to bring fabric.
