Orange County Library System Celebrates National Library Week

Orange County Library System Celebrates National Library Week – April 4 – 10, 2021 is National Library Week, a time to highlight the valuable role libraries, librarians and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening communities. The theme for this year’s National Library Week is “Welcome to your library,” to reflect the idea that libraries extend far beyond a physical building and that everyone is welcome to use their services. Whether people visit virtually or in person, libraries are accessible and inclusive places that foster a sense of belonging and community through learning, discovery and exploration.

What:

First recognized in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA), and it honors libraries of all types across the country each April. Celebrate with OCLS by signing up for your free library card, which gives you access to thousands of ebook and audiobook selections, or enroll in an online class, learn a new language, gain access to countless research tools and much more. Everyone who signs up for a library card during National Library Week will receive one free ticket to Wonder Works. Visit an Orange County Library branch or sign up online at ocls.info/getyourcard to get your card today.

This year, Girl Scouts of Citrus (GSC) have partnered with OCLS to launching a special library patch that launches during National Library Week. GSC and nonmembers can earn a Library Love patch by completing a self-led program based on their grade level and signing up for a library card. This patch was designed to provide the opportunity for girls to gain insight into their local community library. The program covers the benefits of owning a library card and the instructions on how to locate library materials using the library catalog.
