Orange County Public Library February Events – During February, the North Orange Branch celebrates Black History Month with fun fact cards for kids. Use research skills to discover facts about influential Black Americans. Once a card has been completed, return it to the branch to win a small prize. Cards will be entered into a drawing for a raffle prize at the end of the event. The more cards you turn in, the better your chance of winning.

What:

Learn about 10 historic Black heroes in America on February 8 and 15 during Homeschool Meetup: 10 Unsung Heroes of Black History. Then on February 20 study the works of famed artist Jean-Michel Basquiat during Basquiat Art, and create your own piece of art in his unique style.   

Take an easy, classical treat and turn it into a gift for your valentine during Cuisine Corner Junior: Valentine Rice Krispies Treats. Library staff will help guide you as you learn about kitchen safety and how to use kitchen tools.

Wednesday, February 3, 2 p.m.  

Red means stop, green means go! Learn about African American inventor Garrett Morgan and his creation of the traffic light through food. Recommended for ages 3–5.
