Orlando Library Events for Kids in March– Bring your kids to the library during March to take part in a National Women’s History Month event. Several branches host Women Make History programs in which kids can hear stories and participate in activities dedicated to historical women and their amazing contributions to the world. See dates and locations below.

What:

The library welcomes New York Times best-selling author Samira Ahmed on March 6 for a writing workshop at the Southwest Branch and a Meet the Author event at the West Oaks Branch, where she will read from and discuss her book Love, Hate & Other Filters. On March 7 the Orlando Public Library welcomes Sunshine State Award winning author Lisa Graff where she will talk and share from her latest book Far Away

Spend your Spring Break at the library! Several library branches will host special events throughout the month of March including Dino Week at the Winter Garden branch, S.T.E.A.M. break at the Alafaya branch, Sewing and Technology Camps at the Orlando Public library and more. Meet Sunshine State Award winning author Lisa Graff as she reads from and discusses her newest book. Far Away tells the story of CJ, who uses her aunt’s psychic gift to talk to her mom, who died just hours after she was born. When CJ learns she won’t be able to speak to her mother anymore, she sets off on a road trip to locate the one object that can tether her mother’s spirit back to Earth.

Drone Zone Camps

Saturdays, March 23–April 5, 10 a.m.

Pilot real drones in Drone Zone camps. Spend this spring flying drones through obstacle courses and challenges, while learning about drone technology and career opportunities. Drone Zone camps are made possible by a generous grant through the Best Buy Community Grants program. Ages 13–18.

Making it Work as a Work-at-Home Parent

Many employers and freelancers are now considering working from home a viable option, but it comes with household adjustments. Cindy Marie Jenkins will offer tips and hacks for making it work with young children in the home. Children are welcome at this event; quiet activities will be provided.
