Orlando Science Center Has a Paw-some New Exhibit this Summer

What:

This highly interactive exhibition will show how the ability to understand and communicate with each other lies at the heart of the unique relationship between humans and dogs, and what makes this one of the most successful interspecies partnerships of all time. Dogs! A Science Tail was created and developed by the California Science Center with support from Annenberg Foundation and Wallis Annenberg PetSpace. PetSmart Charities®, the leading funder of animal welfare in North America, is sponsoring the national tour. This project is sponsored in part by the State of Florida through the Florida Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs, and the Florida Council on Arts and Culture.

With over a dozen different interactive exhibit pieces, Dogs! A Science Tail explores the science behind where dogs came from, how dogs experience the world, what makes our bond so special, and how to care for dogs. Enjoy interactives that illustrate how walking a dog through your neighborhood can help strengthen your community and test your pop-culture knowledge during a game of “Jeopawdy!” based on the show Jeopardy! The love between people and puppies is a tail as old as time! Step into the role of bark-eologist and dig deep into the history of our four-legged friends. Excavate replica fossils to find out whether they belonged to dogs or wolves. Analyze bones and DNA patterns to see how scientists study dog domestication to learn how wolves evolved into the diverse doggos we know and love today. Visitors will have a ball sniffing out hidden smells, testing out the speed of their own zoomies against different breeds, and getting inside a dog’s head to see and hear how they do. Dog lovers are also invited to share personal photos and stories of their dogs on a photo wall within the exhibit.
