Orlando Science Center July’s Astronomy Programming 2019

Orlando Science Center July’s Astronomy Programming 2019 – Have a blast with out-of-this-world programming during Orlando Science Center’s Astronomy month! This July, experience the Science Center at night with Science After Sundown on Friday and Saturday evenings until 11:00 p.m. Extended hours include Laser Light Shows, stargazing in the observatory, and more. Later in the month, join us for Moon Fest, our biggest celebration of the summer  commemorating the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing. And if that isn’t enough space for you, visit the Science Center on July 16 to contribute to the world record of most rockets launched on a single day!

Science After Sundown:

On Fridays and Saturdays from July 5 through August 10, the Science Center will be open until 11:00 p.m. with stargazing in the observatory, adult-friendly workshops in The Hive: A Makerspace like DIY Mouse Ears and Make Your Own Bitters, Hollywood films in the Digital Adventure Theater and all exhibits open. During extended hours, guests can experience the Science Center with fewer crowds than during the day. Enjoy extra time and space for exploration, inspiration and imagination on all four floors.

Global Rocket Launch Day:

Be a part of a world record for most rockets launched in a single day on July 16! Join the celebration and launch stomp rockets in Loch Haven Cultural Park and paper rockets in Kinetic Zone to celebrate the launch of the Apollo 11 Saturn V rocket. Don’t miss this opportunity to unleash your inner rocket scientist! Click here to learn more about this event.

Moon Fest:

Prepare for liftoff! On July 20 and 21, we will be celebrating the day humanity experienced “one giant leap for mankind” with Moon Fest! Be sure to check out special live shows like Peeps in SPACE, and To Infinity and Kaboom which will tie in the chemistry of rocket science. Visit our Astronaut Training Facility to discover what it takes to survive in space, and stop by DinoDigs to participate in a Martian Egg Drop Challenge. To learn more about one of humankind’s greatest achievements, catch Apollo 11: First Steps Edition in the Dr. Phillips CineDome, along with other space-themed films in the Digital Adventure Theater.

More Details:

All month long we hope to bring the Central Florida community together to commemorate 50 years since one of humankind’s biggest achievements, and inspire the next set of engineers, astronauts, mathematicians, coders, and inventors who will land on, explore and possibly live on Mars.
