Orlando Science Center’s MakeFest

Orlando Science Center’s MakeFest – Make. Create. Innovate. Join us for MakeFest on June 15 and 16 as we celebrate the one year anniversary of The Hive: A Makerspace! Orlando Science Center invites you to become a creator, rather than a consumer at this mini maker convention. Uncover a new talent, experiment with new ways to solve everyday problems and bring your own creative ideas to life!

Orlando Science Center's MakeFest

What:

Meet, learn and make with several community partners. Try your hand at wheel throwing with Porch Pottery, and discover the art of the loom with Weavers of Orlando. Learn more about sight and the behavior of light with demos from University of Central Florida College of Optics and Photonics. You can also catch a glimpse of DIY power race cars from Maker FX, play a game of Roboperation with the Melrose Center, learn how to crotchet with Orlando Sewical and more!

We’re embracing the Maker Movement by integrating science, technology, engineering and art in The Hive: A Makerspace. By participating in hands-on activities and experimenting with new technologies, people gain problem solving skills that they can use every day. Whether it’s embroidering an old pair of jeans or creating a moving diorama from recycled materials, making nurtures creativity and cultivates community. Why consume when you can create?
