Sea Life Aquarium Shark Month 2018

Grab your flippers andĀ dive into Shark Month atĀ Orlando’sĀ only aquarium.Ā This summer,Ā SEA LIFE Orlando AquariumĀ isĀ hosting a totallyĀ jawsomeĀ celebration of one of the ocean’s most feared and revered creatures: sharks!Ā From July 8 to 29, guests can sinkĀ their teeth into special shark-focusedĀ programming and activitiesĀ and they’ll also have a chance toĀ reel in the ultimate catch—a #sharkfie.

There are more than 500 species of sharks in the world and SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium is home to a handful of them—including the Grey Reef Shark, Nurse Shark, Blacktip Reef Shark and most recently,Ā a group of several baby Coral Catsharks.Ā Every day, SEA LIFE’s trained diversĀ swim alongsideĀ these sharks in the Indian Ocean, Pacific Ocean and Atlantic Ocean habitats. However, during the month of July, they’ll be bringing an underwater camera along with them to try and capture selfies with the sharks and the guests from beyond theĀ other side of the glass. The divesĀ start at 11:30 a.m. and recur hourly until the final dive at 5:30 p.m.

“Our guests love coming to visit SEA LIFE because of how immersive and interactive our aquarium is,” said James Paulding, General Manager. “From the moment you walk in the door, it’s like you’ve been transported to a magical underwater world. The idea to offer these beyond-the-glass shark selfies for Shark Month really stemmed from our desire to further expand on the playfulness and interactivity of the SEA LIFE experience so we decided to turn our divers into underwater photographers.Ā Sharks are notoriously camera shy so hopefully with the help of our ā€˜sharkarazzi,’ a few of our lucky and brave guests willĀ catch a #sharkfie.”

In addition to #Sharkfies, SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium will also be offering Shark-focused Dive TalksĀ and ToddlerĀ TimesĀ during Shark Month.Ā Every Tuesday, SEA LIFE opens early at 9:30 a.m. to host Toddler Time—aĀ special, half-hour interactive and educational program for its youngest explorers. Held in front of the aquarium’s Indian Ocean Habitat, Toddler TimeĀ featuresĀ a fun story and hands-on activity, and admission is free to all toddlers aged 2 years old or younger.Ā Young guestsĀ whoĀ complete a shark scavenger huntĀ will be entered for a chance to win a shark plush from the gift shop.

SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium is home to Florida’s only 360-degree tunnel where sharks, turtles and fish swim overhead while guests and their families walk through. Florida residents can enjoy discounted admission and savings of $5Ā per personĀ or more if they purchase tickets online, at least 24 hours in advance.
