Space Exploration Weekend at Science Center – July is Space Exploration Month so the Orlando Science Center is celebration with a full weekend, July 20-22.

Space Exploration Weekend at Science CenterSpace Exploration Weekend at the Orlando Science Center so you don’t have to leave Earth to experience the fun! Hours are 11am to 4pm Friday through Sunday.

Throughout the weekend, explorers will learn about the science and technology of space travel. “Journey to Space” will be screened in the Dr. Phillips CineDome, Science on a Sphere presentations can be seen in Our Planet, in The Hive you can build a Mars colony from recycled materials, and much more.

Special Activities on Saturday, July 21

Saturday is the most exciting day to visit, with special experiences offered for one day only! Participate in the Martian egg drop STEM Challenge, marvel at the stars in the mobile planetarium, and snap a picture with Star Trek cosplayers.

At 1 p.m. Saturday, don’t miss a special presentation at OSC by a speaker who is straight out of NASA! Chris Poole will speak about Orion, which is a spacecraft expected to eventually carry astronauts to deep space — even Mars! Orion is in the test phase, and Chris works on the team that is preparing for Orion’s mission around the moon.

Science After Sundown Friday, July 20 & Saturday, July 21

Stay late after the Space Exploration Weekend festivities on Friday or Saturday for another great event, Science After Sundown! OSC will be open until 11 p.m. on these days. The Crosby Observatory will be open for stargazing, and in the Digital Adventure Theater catch the intergalactic retro sci-fi film, “The Last Starfighter.”
