Light Up Night is the most anticipated Christmas event in North Florida. Every November thousands of people head downtown to watch the lighting of St. Augustine’s famous light display. At 6:30 pm the Christmas tree in the Plaza de la Constitucion comes to life with holiday sparkle. Following is a ten second countdown that ignites St. Augustine’s bay front– better known as Nights of Lights. The illuminated town instantly spreads holiday spirit throughout the Ancient City. They say the cheers can be heard all the way from the St. Augustine Lighthouse!

Light Up Night is a popular southern tradition and great way to celebrate the holiday’s in Florida. To optimize your Light Up Night it is important to keep a few things in mind like parking, and how you want to experience the first night of Nights of Lights.

• Light Up Night starts at 6:30 pm but many residents and tourists arrive in the morning.
• Commute via the Old Towne Trolley, or Ripley’s Believe it or Not Red Train, and park for free.
• Park your bicycle, along the bay front or one of the dozen of bike racks in downtown St. Augustine.
• Do not park next to a yellow curb.
• Historic Downtown Parking Facility costs $15 for entry or $3 with a ParkNow card. It accommodates 1,200 vehicles.
• Time limit: on-street: 3 hours/parking lots: 4 hours
• Park at Trinity Episcopal Church for a $15 donation to their youth group, on Light Up Night only.

Ripley’s Christmas Tour Train
Ripley’s Big Red Christmas Train
is a great way to turn a Christmas light ride into a memory-making experience! The train runs nightly from November 20 through January 5 except December 14 & 25 but the real magic happens on Friday and Saturday nights while you’re waiting for your turn to ride the train. This year’s Christmas Magic includes stories with Mrs. Claus, Sparky’s amazing balloon creations and a family-safe s’mores pit!

This is our favorite St. Augustine Holiday Tradition- we’ve been going for years! The kids love the magical viewing glasses that make lights extra-twinkley. Adult tickets are $10.99, Child (3-11) $5.99 VIP tickets allow you to skip to the front of the line… $14 for adults & $7 for kids. WORTH IT! St. Augustine Nights of Lights 2017
