Winter Themed Crafts and Events at Orange County Library – This month, join the library for winter-themed virtual fun that you can take advantage of from the comfort of your home. Join library staff on December 4 for Little Chef – Hot Cocoa Cookies. Here young chefs will learn how to bake a delicious chocolate cookie while learning about kitchen safety. Create winter magic on December 16 as you turn an empty jar into a winter wonderland during DIY Snow Globes.   Title –

Nerd out from December 6 through December 12 as the library hosts Random Fandom, a week-long celebration of pop culture fandoms. Test your knowledge in Power Rangers trivia, create an algebraic item inspired by Adventure Time, or decorate a pot perfect for growing your own Groot. OCLS locations will have take-home crafts for youngsters to enjoy, as well as recommended material for you to check out. Visit for a complete list of events.

Virtual Event: Homeschool: Spanish  

Tuesdays, December 1 & 15, 2 p.m.  

Develop your Spanish skills with us! In this Spanish introduction class you will learn basic vocabulary, numbers, colors and much more. Recommended for homeschoolers ages 6 – 17.

Virtual Event: Baby, It’s Cold Outside 

Thursday, December 3, 10 a.m.  

Explore the wonder of winter by engaging in themed sensory activities with your little one. Recommended for ages 0-18 months.

Virtual Event: Do You Want to Build a Snowman? 

Thursday, December 3, 4 p.m.  

Make your own snow and take on the challenge to build the perfect snowman. Recommended for families with children ages 3-8.

Melt, mix, roll and bake a delicious chocolate cookie. Your little one will learn hands on kitchen safety at home. Adult participation required. Recommended for ages 3-5.

Celebrate all your favorite Pokémon! Join us for a special storytime filled with books, rhymes, songs and stretches. Recommended for ages 3–5.

Virtual Event: Random Fandom – Tim Burton Quiz Show  

Monday, December 7, 5 p.m.  

Test your knowledge of the wacky worlds of Tim Burton. Recommended for ages 9 and up.

Virtual Event: Random Fandom – Drawing Star Wars  

Wednesday, December 9, 5 p.m.  

Try out new techniques while learning how to draw Star Wars inspired images. Recommended for ages 9–12.

Virtual Event: Random Fandom – Imagine You’re a Disney Villain  

Thursday, December 10, 10 a.m.  

Crown yourself a baddie as we explore the characters on the other side of our favorite stories. Recommended for ages 3–5.

Virtual Event: Random Fandom – Kyoshi Warrior Makeup Tutorial  

Friday, December 11, 4 p.m.  

Practice your skills to recreate a Kyoshi Warrior look that would honor the Avatar herself.  Recommended for ages11-18.

After an exhilarating week discovering new fandoms and celebrating those you already loved, let’s unite one more time for a fandom celebration with break out sessions, a dance party, and prizes!

Make some tasty snowmen to eat for winter treats! Learn to make different kinds of easy snowman snacks. Recommended for upper elementary and teens.

Turn an empty jar into a winter wonderland with this fun craft.

Virtual Event: Growing Up WILD – Looking at Leaves 

Thursday, December 17, 11 a.m.  

Become a leaf peeper and strengthen your observation skills by comparing leaves. Presented as a part of the Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies Project WILD.

Virtual Event: Family Mood Playlist  

Friday, December 18, 11 a.m.  

Join CFCArts Music Therapist Ashley Lewis as she instructs your family on designing the perfect family mood playlist using the techniques of music therapy. Materials needed: access to a music resource.

Virtual Events: Holiday DIY Crafts  

Friday, December 18, 4 p.m.  

Create handmade decorations, ornaments or simple gifts for the holiday season. Recommended for ages 9–12.

Virtual Event: I’m a Little Snowman 

Wednesday, December 23, 12 p.m.  

Who has a black hat, button nose, and two eyes made out of coal? A snowman! Enjoy snowy tales and activities. Recommended for toddlers 18-36 months.
