Park and Recreation Month in Seminole County

July 2 - July 31

Free
Fort Mellon Park sanford e1632931303322

The Seminole County Board of County Commissioners has proclaimed July as Park and Recreation Month in Seminole County. Residents and visitors are encouraged to celebrate by visiting Seminole County parks, trails, and natural lands to earn free limited-edition posters.

Now in its third year, the Park Poster Challenge features artistic renderings of favorite Seminole County parks, inspired by the National Park Service travel posters of the 1930s and ’40s. Participants can pick up free posters by visiting three Seminole County parks throughout July, taking a photo at each location, and presenting photos to staff at Red Bug Lake Park, Sanlando Park, Sylvan Lake Park, or the Museum of Seminole County History.

Park and Recreation Month is celebrated nationwide in July to recognize the benefits of community parks and recreation programs, which promote health and wellness, boost economic prosperity, and protect environmental resources. Seminole County manages more than 40 parks, trailheads, and natural lands areas, covering over 7,600 acres. Find a park in “Florida’s Natural Choice” at seminolecountyfl.gov/parks.
