Below are some of the zoos you can find in and close to Central Florida. All are within a 2 hour drive of Downtown Orlando.

Central Florida Zoo:

The Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens is a 116-acre zoo and botanical garden located north of Orlando, Florida at the intersection of I-4 and Hwy 17-92 near the city of Sanford. The zoo has been an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums since March 2011.

Brevard Zoo:

Brevard Zoo is a 75 acre nonprofit facility located in Melbourne, Florida, United States that is home to more than 900 animals representing more than 195 species from Florida, South America, Africa, Asia, and Australia.

Zoo Tampa at Lowry Park:

ZooTampa at Lowry Park is a 63-acre nonprofit zoo located in Tampa, Florida. In 2009, Lowry Park Zoo was voted the #1 Family Friendly Zoo in the US by Parents Magazine, and is recognized by the State of Florida as the center for Florida wildlife conservation and biodiversity.

Sea Life Aquarium:

SEA LIFE Orlando offers underwater adventures with more than 5000 species from the three oceans of the world. Located in the heart of Orlando at ICON Park.

Discovery Cove:

Discovery Cove is a swimming with dolphins park owned and operated by SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, located in Orlando, Florida. It is a sister park of SeaWorld Orlando and Aquatica Orlando. Guests can interact with a range of marine animals including bottlenose dolphins.

Clearwater Aquarium:

Clearwater Marine Aquarium is a 501 non-profit organization, and aquarium in Clearwater, Florida. It is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of sick and injured marine animals, public education, conservation, and research.

Aquarium Tarpon Springs:

The Tarpon Springs Aquarium is located at the West end of the Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs, Florida, United States. It offers a variety of local aquatic and reptilian life. Shark, Alligator, Snake, and Eel showings are featured throughout the day where visitors can watch staff feed the animals and touch them.

SeaWorld Orlando is a theme park and marine zoological park, near Orlando, Florida. It is owned and operated by SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment.

Florida Aquarium:

The Florida Aquarium is a 501 not-for-profit organization, publicly operated institution located in Tampa, Florida, United States. It is a large scale, 250,000-square-foot aquarium and is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums

Gatorland is a 110-acre theme park and wildlife preserve in Florida, located along South Orange Blossom Trail south of Orlando. Founded 70 years ago by Owen Godwin on former cattle land in 1949, it has been privately owned by his family since then.

Wild Florida:

Animal park with boat tours & alligator-handling shows, plus a tropical bird aviary & a petting zoo.

Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World:

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is a zoological theme park at the Walt Disney World Resort in Bay Lake, Florida, near Orlando. Owned and operated by The Walt Disney Company through its Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products division, it is the largest theme park in the world, covering 580 acres.

Audobon Center for Birds of Prey:

Birds of prey rehabilitation center at a restored lakefront 1920’s bungalow established in 1979.

Outdoor sanctuary rehabilitating wildlife such as lemurs & hawks, with educational tours & events.

Reptile World Serpentarium:

Reptile World Serpentarium is a reptile zoo in St. Cloud, Osceola County, Florida. It features more than 75 species of snakes, as well as lizards, crocodiles, alligators, and turtles. It is operated by the herpetologist George Van Horn. In addition to having animals on display, it has venom milking shows.
