Ultimate Mac & Cheese Cook-off at Green Acres Farm Oviedo

January 20 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Mac and Cheese Green Acres

It’s our 4th Annual Cook-off and we’ve decided to shake things up a bit. So, join us for the cheesiest competition of the year. Who will be the crowned the Mac & Cheese Champion?!?
Think you have what it takes? Join the competition! Only $25 per entry but act quick because we only have 10 spots available! Click on the Eventbrite link and purchase tickets as a competitor.
Do you just LOVE mac & cheese? Come on out to enjoy the fun! Only $15 per ticket and every attendee gets a vote. You’ll get 1 sample from each of our contestants. You will be given scorecards to rate each sample on Texture, Flavor, Appearance, and Creativity (we are going to use an average of the scores, in case people don’t taste each one). Tickets are limited and MUST be pre-purchased through Eventbrite.
This year we are offering prizes for:
Best Overall Mac & Cheese
Most Creative Recipe
RULES for our cooks:
1.) Mac & cheese recipe must be original recipe of the applicant. You MAY NOT use boxed or store-bought mac & cheese.
2.) Prepare your mac & cheese at home and bring it in a chafing dish with sterno, crock-pot, or similar appliance to keep it warm. We will have power cords for you to plug in. YOU are responsible for making sure that your food stays at a safe temperature throughout the event. Please prepare accordingly!
3.) Applicants may arrive up to one hour early to set up. Please be here, at least, 30 minutes before the event. Be prepared for people to start tasting when they arrive. You will be serving your mac & cheese – 2oz samples / 1 sample per person.
4.) Prepare only one specific recipe, but you may use multiple trays / crockpots. Once again, just make sure that all your food stays at a safe temperature for the entire event.
5.) Recipe ingredients must be typed out on 8.5″ x 11″ paper and posted in front of your table. This is important, as people may have allergies. Make sure you list all ingredients.
6.) Applicants must supply their own cooking utensils, but we will provide tasting cups and spoons.
7.) You must make, at least, 2 pounds of dry noodles (we recommend 3-4 pounds). Feel free to use any type of noodles you choose. You are not limited to elbow macaroni.
8.) Please bring your own chairs (tables will be provided) … and clean up your station when you are done! You will have ½ of a 6ft or 8ft table to use. You are welcome to decorate your station if you are feeling extra cheesy.
9.) We are not allowing toppings that you put on as you serve. But you are welcome to get creative with ingredients added IN the macaroni (veggies, meat, etc). We encourage the creativity!
10.) We know people take their mac & cheese VERY seriously… but this is also intended to be fun. So, no negativity. Let’s have a good time! *Healthy smack talk is encouraged 😉
11.) The event is over at 3pm, but all scorecards will need to be turned in by 2:30pm to allow us the time to finish averaging out the scores.
12.) Best Overall Mac & Cheese = $150; Most Creative Recipe = $75
Winners will be announced at the end of the event.
