Wekiva Island aims to make every day Earth Day, but on April 19, 2024, the Seminole County business is taking it to the next level.
Wekiva Island will celebrate Earth Day with a full schedule of fun and educational events based around sustainability. Events include:
The panels will cap off the day’s events. The first, beginning at 6 p.m., will focus on Orlando’s Path to Resilience & Innovation. Panelists will include Mike Hess, Director of Sustainability, Resilience and the Future-Ready City Initiative, City of Orlando; Gabrielle Milch, Supervisor 4, Seminole Soil and Water Conservation & St. Johns Riverkeeper Middle Basin Manager; and Chuck O’Neal, President, Speak Up Wekiva, Inc.
The second panel will begin at 7 p.m. and focus on Pioneering Sustainable Solutions Locally. Panelists will include Kellie Antonowicz, Director of Education, IDEAS For Us/Fleet Farming; Alyssa Bolanos, Owner + Founder, Oh Eco; and Charlie Pioli, Founder/CEO, O-Town Compost.
Wekiva Island Owner Bill Weinaug will join one of the panels, both of which will be hosted at the Island’s Gallery CERO. Admission is free, but guests are requested to RSVP here.
“From our inception, Wekiva Island was meant to serve as a thought leader in how businesses could be profitable, fun, and truly sustainable,” Weinaug said. “For us to host these panels and this event in honor of Earth Day is a full-circle moment.”
