What:

“Imagine trying to write without a pencil, color without a crayon, or learn to reach without a book…that’s the reality for many students in the public school system,” said Kathy Ejnioui, Director of Programs for the Education Foundation Osceola County. “Many families are struggling to provide food and shelter for their children and are unable to provide the basic tools for learning and we are thankful to our individuals, businesses, and the overall community to help us ensure a quality education for our children to be successful.”

Each summer, we ask members of the community to come together to support our initiative, free school supplies for students in need. The donated supplies keep A Gift For Teaching shelves stocked with the necessary basics for the entire school year.  With over 76% of Osceola County students unable to buy lunch, much less school supplies, we need a lot of support and host sites to collect these much-needed school supplies. Over the past 20 years, A Gift For Teaching Osceola has provided over $28,536,387.58 million of school supplies to Osceola County classrooms.  We started with 12 monthly schools and today, we have 64 monthly schools to provide supplies to.  Teachers throughout the county reported the free supplies create a more equal learning environment, as well as improved class preparedness and class participation. Since 2003, AGFT of Osceola County has distributed over three million pencils, nearly 150,000 backpacks and has served over 80,000 teachers.

More Details:

A Gift For Teaching of Osceola County is a FREE store program offered through The Education Foundation of Osceola County, Inc. in partnership with A Gift For Teaching in Orlando. Those eligible to shop include K-12 teachers for supplies to be given to children in need in their classrooms.  Our mission is to ensure that children and classrooms in our community have the basic tools for learning that students need to succeed.  We do this by transferring, at no cost, the community’s surplus supplies and merchandise into the hands of teachers and school children in need.

Let’s make a difference together. In partnership with A Gift For Teaching, Central Florida’s primary provider of free school supplies to teachers, we can provide essential supplies to students who need them most – so learning can occur for all.

Two ways you can help:
