Orange County Library November Events 2023 – Orange County Library System celebrates Native American Heritage Month in November with storytimes, events and activities designed to honor the rich cultures, traditions and histories of Indigenous peoples.  Programs like Indigenous Tales and Family Art Adventures will teach kids about Indigenous stories and art, while adults can participate in a reading challenge featuring books by Native authors or attend a virtual chat with Muscogee (Creek) Nation author and US Poet Laureate Joy Harjo. What:

November also marks National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo, a challenge to draft a complete novel in just one month. OCLS has a cornucopia of resources to help writers meet their goals, from NaNoWriMo write-ins to the Meet the Author series where readers and aspiring writers can hear first-hand from seasoned, successful writers. Community members of all ages are invited to get literary at the library in November. Stuck author Jennifer Swender will be in attendance at a virtual meeting of Mayor Buddy’s Book Club for ages 8-12, sponsored in part by the State of Florida through the Division of Arts and Culture and the National Endowment for the Arts. OCLS will also host a live performance of scenes from The Nutcracker by the Central Florida Ballet, as well as special Nutcracker storytimes by costumed dancers from Orlando Ballet to help ring in the holiday season.
