Orlando Science Center Solar Eclipse Party 2023- On Saturday, October 14, the annular solar eclipse will travel a direct path from Oregon to Texas, so we’ll see about a 60% eclipse here in Orlando, similar to what was visible during the solar eclipse in 2017. An annular solar eclipse happens when the Moon is at its farthest point from Earth, making it appear smaller than the Sun in our sky. This creates a ring effect around the Moon. The term “annular” refers to this ring effect, which some astronomers call “the ring of fire.”

What:
Orlando Science Center will be open regular hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, but tickets will only be available online in advance at www.osc.org/annular-solar-eclipse/. We expect a large volume of visitors on the day of the eclipse so there will be limited tickets to control capacity. Once that number is reached, this event will be SOLD OUT. We will not be able to accommodate visitors without advance tickets and they will not be sold on-site that day. For more info, please visit www.osc.org or call 407-514-2000.
Where and When:
The eclipse will begin at 11:52 am, peak at 1:26 pm, and end at 3:02 pm giving viewers an adequate amount of time to see this celestial event as it happens. While you don’t have to be at the Science Center to view the eclipse, you certainly want to be there to celebrate it! On Saturday, October 14, we will hosting a day of special programming, including live streaming the view from a location within the direct path of the annular eclipse on screens around the Science Center. Please remember it is never safe to look directly at the sun during a partial eclipse without specialized eye protection. This can cause severe retina damage. Orlando Science Center staff will be on hand to highlight how to correctly use solar eclipse glasses.

Please note that because the eclipse ends at 3:02 pm, eclipse glasses will not be provided to guests who reserve entry to Orlando Science Center after 3 pm on October 14, 2023. If you want to experience the eclipse at the Science Center, make sure to select an entry time before 3 pm.
Cost:
Tickets are $27 for adults, $21 for youth (ages 2-11). Ticket holders will enjoy:
