Orlando Science Center STEM Fest is Back in 2024

What:

Orlando Science Center’s most popular multi-day event is back! Spark STEM Fest, presented by the UCF Office of Research, resides at the crossroads of inspiration and imagination, igniting curiosity in STEM careers with amazing hands-on experiences, empowering meaningful connections between the public and STEM professionals with speakers, panels and other sessions, and building excitement for the possibilities that lie ahead through a weekend of displays, shows, and so much more. This year, the event features exhibitors, guest experts, and dynamic demonstrations, including presentations by the world famous Science Bob as seen on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Live with Kelly and Ryan and The Today Show. “Science Bob” Pflugfelder is a science teacher, author, maker and presenter that knows how to share the world of science like never before. He will be performing an amazing live show full of unforgettable experiments (purchasing a $5 ticket in addition to your admission is required for this show due to limited seating).Other big attractions include:

  • Meet TapeMeasure the Robot Dog: Meet the newest member of UCF’s School of Modeling, Simulation and Training – TapeMeasure the robot dog! Manufactured by robotics technology leader Boston Dynamics, TapeMeasure is designed to sense and avoid obstacles, collect limitless data and map its environment – all while trotting, hopping and climbing across various terrains. See demonstrations on Saturday, Feb. 17.
  • Flip Out Over Physics: Fan-favorite WeFlip will return to perform their Acrobat Science Live Variety Show. Watch as this duo teaches basic science concepts and then demonstrates how they put them to work with acrobatics. It’s the perfect blend of education and fun!
  • Ready Player One: Race Down Rainbow Road or join the Super Smash Bros Tournament with Powder Keg Games! Enter for a chance to win cash prizes and be proclaimed champion!
  • Unbelievable Moving Images: We have all seen amazing projection mapping on a building and watched the images transform that location before our eyes. What if this object that we were projecting on was moved? See demonstrations of dynamic projection mapping on a moving object and learn its secrets, thanks to the experts at 7thSense.
  • Shark Dissections: Discover all about sharks, our ocean and how you can help protect both with the passionate marine biologists from Minorities in Shark Sciences. They will display shark jaws, skin, skeletons and other specimens plus hosts games and activities to learn more about sharks and marine conservation. Check out shark dissections at scheduled times throughout the event.
  • It’s All About Space: Meet the interstellar scientific talent behind UCF’s Florida Space Institute and look at samples from real asteroids, meteors and other astronomical phenomena.  Plus, experience hands-on games and activities.
  • Animal Ambassadors: Encounter some of the critters that will make their homes in our new nature and conservation exhibit, Life! From invasive species to local wildlife to tropical birds and fish, the animals in our care – and their keepers – are ready to inspire the future biologists, zoologists, and aquarists of the world.  Life comes to Orlando Science Center later this Spring!
