Universal Orlando Resort Mardi Gras Family Video Review

Universal Orlando Resort Mardi Gras Family Video Review – In February 2019, we were invited to check out Mardi Gras at Universal Orlando Resort. We had an amazing time at this event, especially on a Parent’s Night Out (even though it’s fun for kids too).

Let me start by saying that My Central Florida Family has never attended Mardi Gras at Universal Orlando Resort, but celebrating Mardi Gras is something we’ve always wanted to do. We were invited to come and, not only ride on, but throw beads out on one of the parade floats. Of course we said, “Yes!”

The parade began around 6:15 PM and we started our day just before that, signing waivers, getting instructions and waiting for our time to load up. The instructions were simple. Have fun and don’t chuck a handful of beads at their guests. Check! With the waivers completed, it was time to climb on board.

We were taken to the “back of house” where we climbed aboard our float. We were assigned to the Jester float, which was gorgeous, but then all of the floats were beyond my anticipation in style. Once we had on our costume and our dancers and stilt walkers where with us, it was time to open the gates and head out on the streets of Universal Studios.

We spent about 45 minutes on the float and threw beads until the sun went down. My husband, who is never thrilled with going to theme parks, was smiling from ear to ear. I mean who doesn’t love a good Mardi Gras experience. He loved getting beads to the little ones along the route and upon exiting the float, he was beaming and told me what a great time he had.

Whether you’re riding on the float or catching the beads on the street, everyone was having a great time with this unique experience. It’s a great opportunity to introduce the kids to Mardi Gras without the stresses of the streets of New Orleans!

After the parade, we hit the New Orlean’s food tents. From gumbo to gator bites to Po Boys, Jambalaya, specialty drinks and so much more, the food was awesome! You can even purchase a lanyard so that you can do a simple scan of your card to purchase your treats!

On Saturday night, Macklemore was playing live in concert. In fact, they have new concerts every weekend and it adds to the celebratory atmosphere of this event.

My Central Florida Family had an amazing time at this event and we can’t wait to attend it each and every year.

Below, check out our Top 5 Suggestions for this opportunity:

  1. Try to get onto a float to throw beads. It really is a fun experience.
  2. Make the day of the park and get there early to enjoy rides by day and the festival at night.
  3. Don’t skip the food tents. Try some of the tastes of New Orleans to enhance your experience.
  4. Get a food lanyard. This way, you set your budget up front and simply scan and go.
  5. Don’t miss the concerts. They’re included and so much fun.
