Orlando Science Center Free Admission for Veterans and 50% off for Veteran’s Families:

In honor of our veterans, Orlando Science Center will offer free admission to veterans and active military personnel with military ID and 50% off admission for their families joining them, from November 4 to November 19. Admission provides access to four floors of exhibits, movies, and experiences. From animal encounters to dinosaurs to live shows and interactive exhibits, Orlando Science Center offers hours of engaging wonder and discovery to help curious minds learn and grow!

KidsTown offers multiple hands-on learning areas for infants to age 7 while The HIVE: A Makerspace turns your creative ideas into a reality. Experience the immersive adventure of giant screen movies on the Dr. Phillips CineDome or unearth dinosaur mysteries in DinoDigs. Check out Kinetic Zone, which illustrates how physics and engineering keep the world moving or uncover the science waiting just outside your door with our ALL-NEW exhibit, Backyard Adventures. Discover the outdoors from the perspective of a bee, take a walk through a digital garden to see plants growing in super time and investigate the creatures that only come out at night.

This promotion is made possible by Lockheed Martin to honor veterans and salute the brave men and women who keep our nation safe. As our military serves our country proudly, their families serve, too. Lockheed Martin works with nonprofit partners like Orlando Science Center to support the active-duty force and their families. This promotion runs from Saturday, November 4 to Sunday, November 19. Veterans and active military personnel with military ID receive free admission and their attending family members get 50% off admission.

For guests who are not veterans or military personnel, daily general admission to Orlando Science Center is $24 for adults, and $18 for youth (ages 2 – 11).

A wreath laying ceremony will be held at our Red Tails Monument (just outside the café entrance in Loch Haven Park) on Saturday, November 11 at 11 a.m. This ceremony is in partnership with Vision of Flight and made possible by Lockheed Martin. There will be short remarks by Thomas Mirek, Chief Engineering Vice President at Lockheed Martin, and Mike McKenzie, President and CEO of Vision of Flight, followed by the laying of a wreath at the Red Tails Monument and a moment of silence. The ceremony is free and open to the public. If people plan to visit Orlando Science Center exhibits afterwards, please purchase tickets at www.osc.org.

Veteran’s Day at the Library:

Show your support and make a patriotic craft to honor our national heroes. Recommended for families with children ages 5 and up at South Creek Branch.

Central Florida Zoo Free Admission for Veterans:

The Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens and VyStar Credit Union are proud to honor the military community by offering free admission to all veterans and active military members on Saturday, Nov. 11, and Sunday, Nov. 12.

This event, which is sponsored by VyStar Credit Union, is the third consecutive event of its kind, celebrating those who have served and continue to serve our country.

“A free day at the Zoo is the least we can do for the individuals who serve and protect our country,” said Richard E. Glover, Jr., CEO of the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens. “We’re excited to be partnering with VyStar Credit Union again to honor veterans and active military, and we look forward to seeing many military families at the Zoo on Nov. 11 and 12.”

Veterans can also take advantage of a buy-one-get-one offer for up to six tickets (three purchased, three free) to make memories with family and friends Nov. 11 and 12. The offer is valid for all active duty and current guard/reserves as well as non-active duty, retirees and veterans. Military members must simply show a valid military I.D. or DD214 at the gate.

The offer is only available in-person at the Zoo. It is not redeemable online.

Kennedy Space Center free for US Military Members:

In celebration of Veterans Day, Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex honors veterans, retired, and active U.S. military heroes with complimentary admission. Plus, save half off admission for up to four guests! Those participating must verify their status in-person at Will Call or Information with any of the following: an active duty military ID, retired military ID, a valid driver’s license with the veteran classification, a Choose VA veteran’s ID Card, or DD-214 documentation.

Veteran & Active Duty Run for Freedom:

Come together with your friends and family to honor our active and retired Military Veterans on Veteran’s Day weekend with a 5k Run or Walk.  This event is set to take place on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at Lake Concord Park in Casselberry, FL!  Participants can enjoy this celebration of Veterans Day as we come together to support our military with a beautiful run in the Casselberry community. The fun continues after the 5k race with a kids run, face painters, a bounce house, music, and recruiters from the ARMY and NAVY!

The Trustco Bank Veteran & Active Duty Run for Freedom 5k will celebrate our commitment to supporting our military!  Proceeds from the run will benefit JOSH – Just Our Soldiers’ Helpers.

Eustis Salute to Veterans:

The event will include the National Remembering Our Fallen Memorial display.  This all-encompassing national memorial is a first-of-its-kind and includes our country’s military Fallen who have died from wounds while deployed in The War on Terror since 9/11/2001. The salute to veterans is at Ferran park and includes food trucks and vendors. A veterans Pade will be held on N. Eustis Street at 1pm.

Winter Springs Veteran’s Day Tribute:

Please join the City of Winter Springs as we honor our nation’s heroes. This event offers a time to honor our 2023 Hometown Hero and remember veterans and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Veteran’s Day in Lake Nona:

Join us in celebrating all the brave men and women who have served our country this Veterans Day in Lake Nona Town Center 🇺🇸

The event will feature a Stage presentation with speakers, the Patriotic Parachuters, bag pipes, Honor Guard presentation, trumpeters, singers, Veteran vendors, DJ, and Military vehicles 🚚

Veteran’s Day Salute in Lake Mary:

A salute to Veterans from 8-9am

City of Ocoee:

– The City of Ocoee will hold its 21st Annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at 11 a.m., at the Ocoee Lakeshore Center, 125 North Lakeshore Drive. The public is invited to attend.

Retired Lieutenant Colonel Yolanda Frazier will be the keynote speaker and has 30 years of service in the United States Army. Ms. Frazier held two military commands presiding over up to 300 soldiers and training military officers from across the United States preparing them to be future military leaders. She served in Kuwait and was deployed to Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. During her military career, she received numerous awards including the Bronze Star Medal, five Meritorious Service Medals, three Army Commendation Medals, two National Defense Service Medals, Afghanistan Campaign Medal-Campaign Star and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

Ocoee resident Sherri Gladney will sing the National Anthem. The Ocoee Middle School Wind Ensemble will play a medley of songs. The Ocoee Police Department Honor Guard will present the colors and carry a wreath to be set in place at the city’s Memorial Wall and an Ocoee High School Band member will play “Taps”.  Refreshments will be served after the ceremony.

Orange County Veterans Day Ceremony

Join Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings and the Orange County Mayor’s Veterans Advisory Council in honoring our military veterans who bravely served and fought to defend our country.

We invite you to attend Orange County’s Veterans Day Ceremony on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at the Orange County Administration Center, located at 201 S. Rosalind Avenue, from 12 to 1 p.m.

Orlando Veteran’s Day Parade

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and his Veterans Advisory Council will honor the courageous men and women of the armed forces at the 24th annual City of Orlando Veterans Day Parade in downtown Orlando.

This year’s parade will open with a tribute to those who have fought for our country and defended our freedom, led by Mayor Dyer and local veterans. The parade’s theme will recognize the significant role of military families and transitioning veterans.

Following the parade, viewers and participants can continue celebrating and honoring our veterans at the city’s Veterans Day Celebration event from 1 to 3 p.m. at Lake Eola Park immediately following the parade. The celebration and veterans’ information fair will feature music, food and fun for the whole family. 

The opening ceremony will take place at Orange Avenue near Central Boulevard. The parade will begin at Robinson Street and Orange Avenue, turning left on Central Boulevard, left on Rosalind Avenue and ending at Robinson Street. Find out where to park and how to get around downtown.

Young Entrepreneurs Marketplace Celebrate Veteran’s

The community is invited to join us as we celebrate Veterans Day on Saturday, November 11th at West Oaks Mall (The CLIC, suite 630) from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM.  Young entrepreneurs are building brands that they believe in, and they are being helped to accomplish their goals during So You Want Your Name In Lights (SYWYNIL) 2023 Youth Business Workshop and Marketplace. Since its kickoff three months ago, SYWYNIL, along with our community partner, Young Business Enterprise Academy, Inc, have jointly conducted these monthly projects at various locations throughout Orange County.  Youth interested in developing a business attend these monthly one-hour training workshops which start at 12 noon, then they have an opportunity to showcase their business concepts at the marketplace immediately following the workshops. Enjoy live performances and refreshments while networking at the marketplace with these future business owners.   ALL services are FREE and funded, in part, by Orange County Government, United Arts of Central Florida, Orange County Sheriff Office, and City of Orlando Mayor’s Matching Grant. 

Veteran’s Day in Winter Park

At 9:30 a.m., the public is invited to visit with organizations that offer resources specifically for veteran needs. At 10 a.m., the official program will begin with musical tributes, anecdotal speakers, presentations of Quilts of Valor, and recognition of veterans according to the various military branches served.

Free Admission to Veteran’s at Orange County History Museum

The Orange County Regional History Center invites veterans and active-duty military personnel to visit the museum for free on Saturday, November 11, 2023, in honor of Veterans Day.
