What:

“As we navigate through these uncertain times, there is one thing we are certain of, and it’s that the entire Orlando Ballet team is eager to put on an extraordinary 2020-21 season for the Central Florida community,” said interim Orlando Ballet executive director Cheryl Collins. “For obvious reasons, more than ever before, we are looking forward to getting back to doing what we all love. We have much to look forward to, including three beautiful performance venues and premieres of new artistic works. We know there is a brighter future and can’t wait to reconnect with Orlando Ballet audiences.”

In celebration of the completion of the Dr. Phillips Center, Orlando Ballet’s 2020-21 season includes an exciting lineup of all Orlando premieres—Robert Hill’s new production of “The Sleeping Beauty,” “Moulin Rouge® The Ballet,” “The Premiere Collection,” and “Peter Pan”—alongside the beloved holiday tradition, “The Nutcracker.”

Audiences can expect new works, choreography from some of the best artists in the industry, and three different performance venues next season— at Dr. Phillips Center’s Walt Disney Theater, the highly-anticipated new Steinmetz Hall— a multiform theater that will transform in shape and seating for a variety of art forms, including ballet—and Harriett’s Orlando Ballet Centre.

“The Premiere Collection,” formerly titled, “Made in the USA: A Collection of American Works” will be Orlando Ballet’s premiere mainstage production performed at Harriett’s Orlando Ballet Centre March 19 through 21, 2021, and was originally included on the lineup of the 2019-20 season before a number of events were cancelled due to COVID-19. Ballet fans will be delighted to hear that Robert Hill will still return to the stage as originally planned. “The Premiere Collection” is a true celebration of American choreographers including Jessica Lang, Val Caniparoli and Robert Hill, who will debut a world premiere in this production with music by critically acclaimed composer James M. Stephenson.

Orlando Ballet continues to closely follow health and safety guidelines from the CDC and local and state health officials to protect Orlando Ballet dancers, staff and audiences. Due to the uncertainties associated with COVID-19, performance times and dates are subject to change.

“The dancers and I could not be happier to get back in the studio and begin rehearsals for what will indeed be a powerful season,” said artistic director Robert Hill. “This has been a difficult time for everyone, and we are grateful for the tremendous support Orlando Ballet has received during this unprecedented experience. With new artistic programming, guest choreography by friends such as Jessica Lang, and my own return to the stage, we intend to show our gratitude through the beauty and healing power of dance.”
