Here’s a sneak peek at what you can expect during the Paleontology Party:

Prehistoric Lab – Anytime from 11:30 am – 3:30 pm, Dr. Dare’s Lab, Level 4

Explore the world of all things ancient with a mix of paleontology and archaeology experiments.

Meet Savannah Boan, The Queen of Gators – SATURDAY ONLY! 12 pm & 2 pm on the Discovery Stage, Level 4

The Crocodilian Enrichment Coordinator at Gatorland, Savannah Boan is one of Florida’s most passionate and influential voices for the protection of alligators, crocodiles and Florida wildlife, and a leading crocodilian advocate within the global wildlife conservation community. Learn about the similarities and differences between the ecosystem that is home to crocodilians and that of the dinosaur world. Meet baby alligators and crocodiles and examine fossils, bones and teeth as Savannah shares stories from her conservation work with endangered crocodiles in Cuba, Australia, South Africa and Jamaica. 

Meet Jimmy Waldron, Founder of “Dinosaurs Will Always Be Awesome!” – Dino StoryTime on Saturday at 12 pm in KidsTown Studio, Level 2 and Presentations on Sunday in DinoDigs, Level 4

From appearing as a guest host during Discovering Dinos StoryTime to sharing fossil displays to introducing visitors to Ajax the dinosaur, Jimmy will be around all weekend to help inspire you to learn more about dinosaurs! As host of the popular podcast “Dinosaurs Will Always Be Awesome,” a lifelong dinosaur fan and science communicator, Jimmy has brought his passion for paleontology to museums, conferences, and conventions across the country as well as a guest on the “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend” podcast. DWABA is also a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing appreciation and understanding of Earth’s natural history and evolutionary forces, with an emphasis on dinosaurs and STEM education.  

Dig Deeper – 2 pm in DinoDigs, Level 4 (Both Days)

Get up close and personal as you dig deeper into a rotating collection of authentic fossils and artifacts with some of the biggest fossil fans on our team!

MiniMaker DIY Dinosaur Puppets – 2 pm & 3 pm in KidsTown Studio, Level 2 (Both Days)

Join us in the KidsTown Studio for December’s dino-inspired Maker activity! We will make four clothespin puppets in the shape of different dinosaur heads, with jaws that can snap open and shut at the pinch of your fingers!

Dinosaurs of Antarctica on the Giant Screen – 1:30 p.m. in the Dr. Phillips CineDome (Both Days)

Journey through the south polar landscapes of Antarctica hundreds of millions of years ago. Roam the primitive forest and thick swamps with bizarre dinosaurs and colossal amphibians. Encounter bug-eyed giants and egg-laying mammals in a surreal world where survival hinges on enduring a sunless, six-month polar winter surrounded by meat-eaters with night vision. Unravel the tale of a changing environment at the world’s southernmost point and meet new dinosaurs like Cyrolophosaurus, whose spectacular appearance and movement has been vividly recreated for the giant screen. Welcome to the lost prehistoric world of Gondwana, which is now Antarctica.

Celebrate the Season with Dinos in Lights – Showing every 30 minutes from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in DinoDigs, Level 4 (Both Days)

Add some sparkle to the season and see some of your favorite creatures from the Cretaceous in a whole new light! Join Stan the T. rex and his fossil friends as they show off their twinkling talent in a festive display of music and light. Each show will run about four minutes.

Cost:

Admission to Orlando Science Center is FREE for members, $24 for adults, $18 for youth and free for children under age 2. Tickets include access to all four floors of exhibits, giant-screen and 3D educational films, and live programming. If you have an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) or WIC card with a State issued photo ID matching the name and state as the card, you qualify for a $3 admission per person for up to six individuals through our Science For All initiative.
