Orange County Library Virtual Summer Reading Program 2020

Orange County Library Virtual Summer Reading Program 2020 – In-person events and programs may have been postponed, but kids of all ages can still take part in Orange County Library System’s annual Summer Reading Program. This year the library offers all of its programs, classes and events online. From June 1 through August 1, families can enjoy streaming events, live virtual activities and online reading challenges, all from the comfort of home.

This year’s Virtual Summer Reading Program features live performances for kids every Monday at 10 a.m. on our YouTube channel, and virtual events will take place every day on the hour, beginning at 10 a.m. There will be events and offerings for all age groups, from toddlers through teens. Listen to a storytime or learn a craft, watch a live performance or discover a new recipe demonstrated by library staff.

Summer Reading even includes events for adults! Learn about Shakespeare, play film trivia, learn to draw caricatures, play a virtual game of Dungeons and Dragons, and participate in Beanstack reading challenges for a chance to win prizes.

Virtual Summer Reading highlights include:

  • Reading challenges for all age groups. Read 600 minutes or more to be entered in our grand prize raffle! Sign-up at or download the Beanstack app to participate.
  • Participants can enter to win gift certificates, bicycles, passes to local attractions, and more.
  • OCPS Summer Meal program will distribute free “grab and go” lunches to anyone under 18 at six library locations. Visit for complete information.
  • Attend a Virtual End of Summer Celebration on Saturday, August 1.
